John Guest Speedfit Soft Tube Insert

John Guest push-to-connect fittings are suitable for low and high-density polyethylene, nylon, polyurethane, copper, brass, and soft metals. These tube types are normally compatible with John Guest fittings without  the use of a tube insert as these materials are hard enough to support an exterior compression fitting without distorting the tube. A tube insert is also recommended If plastic tubes are used for hot water

When used with a soft tube such as clear vinyl tubing, a Soft Tube Insert should be used to prevent the tube from collapsing at the fitting connection. 

Make sure the end of the tube is free of score marks than may cause leak paths. For very soft tubing or hot water systems, use a tube insert. Push the tube into and up to the stop and then pull the fitting back to make sure it is secure before testing the system. To release the fittings, release the system pressure and then push the collet back squarely against the fitting body and remove the tubing.

Soft Tube Inserts are available for the following tube sizes:

• 1/4" ID x 5/16" OD
• 5/16" ID x 3/8" OD
• 3/8" ID x 1/2" OD
