New U.S. Shipping Regulations

Starting August 29, 2025, the U.S. suspended the duty-free de minimis threshold. All U.S. bound shipments are now assessed for duties and import fees. We use DDP so you see your full landed cost at checkout and won't pay anything on delivery.

What's Changing?

The United States is ending its duty-free exemption for shipments under $800. Starting August 29, 2025, all orders shipped from Canada to U.S. addresses will include duties, brokerage, and import fees. This is a major shift in U.S. customs regulations, but Cleanflow has you covered.

How Cleanflow Protects You

New U.S. Shipping Regulations | Canada

No Surprise Fees at Delivery

We use Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) shipping, meaning we prepay all duties and fees. You'll see the complete cost upfront at checkout—no unexpected charges when your order arrives.

Cost Certainty During Checkout

Your total includes everything: products, shipping, duties, and import fees. Know exactly what you'll pay before you complete your purchase.

Faster, Smoother Shipping

Prepaid duties help reduce customs delays, keeping your delivery on track when you need it most.

Still Cost-Competitive

Even with new tariffs, Cleanflow orders remain competitive. Thanks to the favorable Canadian-to-U.S. dollar exchange rate, U.S. customers can still find savings that help offset additional duty costs.

Better Planning and Budgeting

With all costs shown upfront, you can make confident purchasing decisions for your projects and operations.

Important Note About Early Implementation

Because these U.S. policy changes are new, there's a small possibility that duties shown at checkout may not perfectly match final amounts assessed by U.S. Customs. If this happens, we'll contact you immediately to explain any differences and work with you on the next steps. This should be rare, but we want complete transparency.

New U.S. Shipping Rules and Regulations

FAQs

General

1) Why am I seeing duties now?

The U.S. has changed its import rules, so most shipments from Canada now include duties and import-related fees. We collect these at checkout to keep things transparent and hassle-free.

2) Do I have to pay anything at delivery?

No. We use Delivered Duty Paid (DDP) whenever possible, so duties/fees are prepaid and shown at checkout—no surprise bills at the door.

3) Are prices going up because of Cleanflow?

No. Any change you see is due to U.S. import rules. Our role is to show all costs upfront and manage the process for you.

4) Will shopping with Cleanflow still be competitive?

Yes. Even with new tariffs, many customers benefit from a favorable CAD→USD exchange rate (rates fluctuate), helping offset added costs.

Pricing & Checkout

5) Where will I see duties and fees?

At checkout, you’ll see a separate line for duties/import fees. The order total reflects your full landed cost.

6) How are duties calculated?

Duties are calculated based on the product category and the item’s country of manufacture—not where it ships from. In some cases, items that meet HS code and country-of-origin requirements under the USMCA may qualify for duty-free entry. Please note that additional fees or brokerage charges may still apply.

7) Can duties change after I pay?

Rarely. During early rollout, the final assessment may differ from the estimate. If that happens, we’ll contact you immediately to explain options and make it right.

8) What currency do I pay in?

When you enter a United States shipping address, our checkout automatically displays the full cost in USD (United States Dollars), including all duties, shipping, and import fees. You’ll always see your complete total in USD before confirming payment.

9) Can I get a formal quote with duties included?

Yes—contact us and we’ll provide a landed-cost quote for planning or procurement approvals.

Shipping & Delivery

10) Will delivery be slower now?

We expect smoother, more predictable timelines because duties are prepaid. Prepayment helps reduce customs hold-ups.

11) What carriers do you use?

We ship with Purolator, which transports your order to the U.S. border. From there, the shipment is handed off to UPS for delivery within the United States. The carrier and service options available to your address will be shown at checkout.

12) Can I choose a method where I pay duties on delivery (DDU)?

Our default is DDP because it prevents surprise charges. If a route doesn’t support DDP, we’ll tell you before you pay.

13) Do bulk/large orders work differently?

Large orders may follow different customs entry rules. We’ll still present your full landed cost and handle the paperwork.

Orders, Returns & Support

14) If I cancel before shipment, what happens to duties?

If we haven’t shipped, any duties we collected will be refunded with your order.

15) If I return an item, are duties refundable?

Typically, duties/taxes already remitted to U.S. Customs aren’t refundable. We’ll assist case-by-case basis according to the carrier and customs rules.

16) Will this affect warranty or CSA-certified product coverage?

No. The product standards and warranty support are unchanged.

17) Does this change free-shipping thresholds or bulk pricing?

Our shipping and bulk pricing programs remain in place. Any duty line you see is separate and shown up front.

18) Who do I contact with questions?

Email info@cleanflow.ca or call 1-866-335-1078 (toll-free in Canada). Our team is trained on duties and shipping.

Product & Compliance (for power users)

19) What determines “country of origin”?

Where the product was made or substantially transformed (not where it ships from).

20) Are U.S.-made goods returning to the U.S. duty-free?

Some U.S.-origin goods may qualify for duty-free return under specific rules. Ask us and we’ll advise on your item.

21) Will I need to provide any extra paperwork?

No additional paperwork is required from you in most cases—we handle it.

22) Do duties apply to every item?

Most items do. A few categories may have different treatment based on regulations. We’ll show any applicable charges at checkout.

23) Can you help me choose the most cost-effective shipping option?

Yes. Ask our team—we’ll recommend the best method for speed, cost, and reliability.

24) Will you keep this page updated?

Yes. We monitor policy changes and update our pricing and this page to keep things accurate.

25) How does this affect delivery to business vs. residential addresses?

The duty rules apply to both; we’ll show your full landed cost either way.

26) Do I need a customs broker?

No. We manage customs on your behalf; that’s part of the DDP advantage.

27) Can I use my own carrier account?

In most cases, we recommend our DDP options. If you need a custom setup, contact us and we’ll review feasibility.

28) Will this change how I place orders (phone, PO, online)?

No. Order as usual—online, by PO, or through our team. We’ll include duties in your order total.
