Hach Total Hardness Test Kit Model HA-71A | 1 - 20 Grains per Gallon has two testing ranges to determine total water hardness. Low range measures 1 - 20 mg/l hardness, and high range measures 1 - 20 Grains per Gallon (17 - 342 mg/l) of hardness.
Water hardness is caused almost entirely by calcium and magnesium ion. Hardness increases soap consumption in laundries and causes scale in boilers and hot water tanks. Hach Total Hardness Test Kit Model HA-71A provides useful information on the efficiency of your water softening process.
