How to Use the Reed 2-71 Pipe Reamer
The Reed 2-71 has two handles: a short reamer handle attached to the cone assembly and a long ratchet handle that drives rotation.
- Assemble the reamer. Lift both pawls from the ratchet ring and rest them across the slotted sleeve. Insert the cone into the ratchet ring from either side. Return the pawls to the slots with their arrows pointing downward in the cutting position.
- Position the cone. Hold the short reamer handle and press the cone lightly against the burr inside the pipe.
- Ream the pipe. Turn the long ratchet handle with your other hand. The spiral flutes will engage and draw the cone into the pipe.
- Remove the burr. Continue turning the handle until the internal burr has been fully removed.
- Release the cone. Press steadily downward on the short handle to move the cone off-center. Complete a downward stroke with the long handle. If the cone does not release, lift the short handle while making another ratchet stroke.
Caution: Do not connect the Reed 2-71 to a power drive. This pipe reamer is designed for manual operation only.
