Overview

The Reed RS2 is a two-handed ratchet shear for cutting PE, PP, PEX, and ABS pipe up to 2" nominal IPS (2.4" actual O.D.). Long handles provide leverage that one-handed shears cannot match on thicker-wall pipe. The blade is replaceable and resharpenable. At 2.8 lbs, the RS2 is light enough for all-day field use.

• Two-Handed Leverage. Long handles let both hands apply force through the ratchet mechanism. This mechanical advantage makes clean cuts through thick-wall PE and PP pipe that require more force than one-handed shears provide.
• Extra-Wide Jaw Cradle. The V-style jaw cradle holds pipe stable and square to the blade throughout the cut. Wider contact area prevents the pipe from rolling or shifting during ratcheting strokes.
• Guideline Slot. A slot in the body lets you see where the blade meets the pipe, so you can line up the cut with a mark on the pipe before starting. This reduces waste from crooked cuts.
• Replaceable and Resharpenable Blade. The RS2B replacement blade (#94176) swaps in with a pivot bolt, snap ring, and pin. Between replacements, the existing blade can be resharpened to extend its working life and cut speed.
• Smooth Ratchet Action. A compression spring advances the blade in controlled increments. Each handle stroke engages the ratchet teeth and drives the blade forward without requiring the user to reposition the tool.

Blade Maintenance

The RS2 blade can be resharpened or replaced when cuts slow down or leave rough edges. To replace the blade:

1. Remove the nut, lock washer, and blade pivot bolt.
2. Remove the pin and snap ring.
3. Swap in the new blade (RS2B #94176).
4. Reassemble in reverse order. Tighten the pivot bolt until the blade is snug but moves freely, then lock the nut.

Light oil on the ratchet mechanism prevents rust and reduces friction. Store the shears in the closed and latched position to protect the blade edge.
