Description

Aluminum toe safety work boots with Hex-Flex® slip-resistant outsole and tall slip-on Polyurethane shell

Baffin Hercules safety work boots are the only aluminum toe safety work boots in the Cleanflow Baffin lineup. At 16 inches tall and 8.15 lbs per pair, this slip-on Polyurethane shell uses an aluminum safety toe with a composite plate, Baffin's Hex-Flex® slip-resistant outsole, and Polar Rubber™ cold-temperature compound. Made in Canada for chemicals, construction, food processing, and seven recommended industrial applications.

Safety Work Boots Hercules

Key Features of Baffin Hercules Safety Work Boots

  • Aluminum safety toe protects to the same Canadian standard as steel but weighs roughly 30 percent less, the only aluminum-toe Baffin sold by Cleanflow
  • Tall 16-inch slip-on shell pulls on without laces, with a wide-fit calf opening that fits over work pants and coveralls
  • Hex-Flex® outsole is Baffin's slip-resistance lug pattern, tested by Baffin on wet, dry, hot, and cold surfaces
  • Polar Rubber™ sole stays flexible in cold temperatures where regular rubber stiffens up
  • Flexible Polyurethane upper that resists cold and cracking, easy to bend at the ankle through long shifts
  • Composite plate underfoot protects against sharp objects without adding metal weight

Baffin Technology Inside the Hercules

The named Baffin technologies on this boot:

  • Hex-Flex® outsole: Baffin's hexagonal lug pattern designed for multi-direction grip on wet, oily, and uneven surfaces
  • Polar Rubber™ outsole: cold-temperature rubber compound that stays grippy where standard rubber turns hard
  • B-Tek™ Dry Waterproof: Baffin's seam-free waterproofing system, the whole shell is one moulded piece
  • Two-stage injection moulding: a manufacturing method that bonds the upper to the base with extra flex at the bend point
  • Real-World Tested™: every Baffin safety boot is tested in real working conditions before it ships

Frequently Asked Questions

Aluminum toe vs steel toe boots: what is the difference?

Aluminum toes meet the same CSA Grade 1 impact standard as steel but weigh about 30 percent less. Composite toes are non-metallic and the lightest option. Aluminum sits between the two: lighter than steel, more rigid than composite, and still triggers metal detectors. The Hercules uses an aluminum toe with a non-metallic composite plate, an unusual pairing in the Baffin lineup.

Why are these boots heavier than other Baffin slip-on safety boots?

At 8.15 lbs per pair, the Hercules is heavier than the Maximum STP (4.57 lbs), Blackhawk STP (5.97 lbs), and Hunter STP (6.21 lbs). The weight comes from the 16-inch tall PU shell and the substantial Polar Rubber™ outsole. The aluminum toe saves weight compared to steel, but is not enough to offset the boot's height and outsole mass.

What does the Hex-Flex® outsole actually do?

Hex-Flex® is Baffin's proprietary outsole lug pattern designed for slip resistance on wet and oily surfaces. The hexagonal lugs deform under load to grip the surface from multiple directions, then release as you lift the foot. Tested per CSA Z195-14 with a Coefficient of Friction value, Baffin lists at 0.85, above the standard threshold for slip-resistant footwear.

Is this an all-season boot or a winter boot?

All-season, not a winter boot. The Hercules has no insulation, so the aluminum toe will feel cold in deep winter without an insulated sock or liner. The PU upper stays flexible in cool temperatures thanks to the cold-and-crack-resistant compound. For winter work, the Hunter STP carries -40°C insulation, and the Constructor or Driller carry -100°C extreme cold systems.

What worksites is the Hercules made for?

Baffin lists seven recommended applications: Agriculture, Chemicals, Construction, Food Processing, Manufacturing, Petro Chemicals, and Utilities. This is the broadest application list of any Baffin slip-on safety boot in the Cleanflow lineup. The combination of CSA aluminum toe, chemical-resistant PU upper, and Hex-Flex® slip-resistant outsole suits both wet-floor and industrial environments.

How does this compare to the Maximum STP and Blackhawk STP?

Three slip-on CSA safety boots, three different toes. The Hercules is the only aluminum toe in the trio with the broadest application list. The Maximum STP uses a steel toe and Oarprene upper for chemical handling at a much lower price. The Blackhawk STP uses a steel toe and TPE upper for general industrial work at the lowest price.
