Description
Large-Diameter Schedule 80 PVC Spigot x FPT Reducer Bushings
Product Overview
Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushings with a smooth male spigot on the outside and female pipe thread (FPT) on the inside, available in two large-diameter sizes: 3" x 2-1/2" and 6" x 4". The spigot end solvent-welds into a socket fitting while the FPT end accepts a threaded pipe, valve, or instrument, bridging glued and threaded sections in Schedule 80 PVC pipe systems where larger line sizes are involved.
For 25 additional spigot x FPT sizes from 3/8" x 1/4" through 3" x 2", see the full Schedule 80 PVC reducer bushings listing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Why are these sizes listed separately from the main bushings page?
Cleanflow stocks the most common spigot x FPT sizes (3/8" through 3" x 2") on the main page. The 3" x 2-1/2" and 6" x 4" combinations serve specialized applications and are stocked in limited quantities. Contact us if you need lead time or bulk availability details.
Do I need a different solvent cement for 6" PVC?
For 6" and larger Schedule 80 PVC joints, use a heavy-body PVC cement rated for the pipe diameter. Apply PVC primer first, then cement. Follow the manufacturer's cure time before pressurizing the line.
What is the pressure rating on 6" Schedule 80 PVC?
Pressure ratings decrease as diameter increases. At 73°F (23°C), 6" Schedule 80 PVC pipe is rated at approximately 280 psi. Derate for higher temperatures and factor in system conditions like water hammer. Refer to ASTM D2467 pressure tables for exact values by size.
Can I glue these into Schedule 40 socket fittings?
Schedule 80 and Schedule 40 pipe share the same outside diameter, so the spigot end will physically fit a Schedule 40 socket. However, the system pressure rating drops to the weakest component. If your application requires Schedule 80 pressure ratings, use Schedule 80 fittings throughout.
