The Franklin FWHF 40 Series is a 7.75" OD (197mm) high flow pleated filter cartridge built from polyester media. Can this cartridge be washed and reused?
Yes. The pleated polyester media is washable. Rinse with clean water or backwash to remove accumulated sediment. Washing restores flow and extends service life. Replace when cleaning no longer restores acceptable pressure drop or when the media is visibly damaged.
What is the difference between absolute and nominal micron ratings?
An absolute rating guarantees 99.9%+ removal at the stated micron size. A nominal rating removes most particles at that size but without a guaranteed efficiency. See the comparison table above. Choose absolute (FWHF401A) when your application requires documented particle removal, such as food processing, pharmaceutical, or desalination pre-filtration.

Pair with a carbon block filter to reduce chlorine before the membrane.
