PJDX-C Reel Assembly in 6 Configurations

Overview

The PJDX-C Pulse Jet De-Icer stores tubing on a hand-wind reel that can be quickly interchanged with other reels containing different tubing lengths or diameters. A Magikist reel assembly lets the crew carry the right setup for each thawing job: 5/16" red tubing for standard service lines or 1/4" black tubing for narrow pipes, in 100 ft or 200 ft lengths. Cleanflow stocks this de-icer auxiliary reel in six options plus bare reels for crews who load their own.

Key Features

  • Quick-change design allows the reel to be interchanged on the PJDX-C between thawing jobs. The crew can switch from 5/16" red to 1/4" black, or from a 100 ft reel to a 200 ft reel, depending on the pipe conditions at the next frozen service line.
  • Pre-loaded options ship with tubing already wound on the reel and ready to deploy. Bare reels (PJD68A, PJD68B) are available for crews who prefer to spool their own tubing.
  • 5/16" red is the standard tubing diameter for most residential and municipal service lines. 1/4" black fits narrower pipes and tight-access points where the wider tubing cannot pass.

Available Reel Configurations

Select the option that matches the tubing size and length you need. All reels are designed for the Magikist PJDX-C Pulse Jet De-Icer.

Part # Tubing Length
PJD68A Bare reel for 1/4" No tubing
PJD68B Bare reel for 5/16" No tubing
PJD125 1/4" black, pre-loaded 100 ft
PJD130 1/4" black, pre-loaded 200 ft
PJD135 5/16" red, pre-loaded 100 ft
PJD140 5/16" red, pre-loaded 200 ft

100 ft covers most standard urban service lines. 200 ft reaches longer rural connections and deeper-set buildings where the frozen section sits farther from the curb stop. The PJDX-C ships standard with 100 ft of tubing on a single reel.

Related Parts

The reel holds the tubing but does not include a probe tip. Order the matching tip separately: PJD45A for 1/4" tubing, PJD45B for 5/16" tubing.

Applications

  • Municipal water crews run multiple thawing calls per day with varying pipe sizes.
  • Plumbing contractors who encounter both narrow and standard service lines on different jobs.
  • Fleet operations stock each PJDX-C truck with pre-loaded reels in both tubing diameters.
  • Rural service areas where 200 ft reels are needed for longer curb-to-building distances.

FAQs

What reel fits the Magikist PJDX-C?

All six Magikist reel assembly options (PJD68A, PJD68B, PJD125, PJD130, PJD135, PJD140) are designed for the PJDX-C Pulse Jet De-Icer.

Does the reel come with tubing?

Four of the six options ship pre-loaded with tubing (PJD125, PJD130, PJD135, PJD140). Two are bare reels (PJD68A, PJD68B) for crews who want to spool their own. The reel does not include a probe tip. Order the matching de-icer auxiliary reel and probe tip together.

How to change reels on a PJDX-C?

The Magikist quick change reel is designed for fast interchange between thawing jobs. Consult the PJDX-C operating manual for the specific swap procedure. The reel interchange is referenced in the Magikist brochure as a standard field operation.

What is the difference between 1/4" and 5/16" tubing on the reel?

The 5/16" red tubing delivers higher hot water volume and is the standard size for most residential and municipal service lines. The 1/4" black tubing fits narrow pipes and tight access points where the wider 5/16" cannot pass. Both connect to the same PJDX-C machine with their matching probe tips.

Can I load my own tubing on a bare reel?

Yes. The PJD68A (for 1/4" tubing) and PJD68B (for 5/16" tubing) are bare reels with no tubing included. Crews who already have tubing on hand or prefer to cut custom lengths can spool their own onto these reels.
