Description

Chemical Resistant Compression Fittings in Kynar PVDF and Nylon

Selecting the right compression fitting material for a chemical feed line, water treatment panel, or pneumatic system determines whether the connection holds or fails under service conditions. Jaco compression fittings are available from Cleanflow in two material lines: Kynar (PVDF) for aggressive chemical environments and nylon for dry, oil-compatible service.

Both use Jaco's patented one-piece ferrule nut for tool-free tube connections without flaring or soldering. All Jaco PVDF fittings are FDA compliant and NSF listed.

Kynar (PVDF) Compression Fittings

Cleanflow stocks different types of Jaco Kynar fittings plus a Kynar PVDF check valve. Kynar handles strong inorganic and organic acids, chlorine, bromine, and halogenated solvents from -40°F to 250°F. It does not absorb water, making PVDF compression tube fittings the standard for wet chemical lines, water treatment dosing panels, and food-contact tubing.

Kynar male connectors and Kynar female connectors transition between tubing and threaded pipe ports. Union connectors join two tubes in a straight run, while union elbows redirect tubing 90 degrees in confined panels and enclosures. Kynar PVDF union tees split a tube run into three directions, and male branch tees add a threaded gauge tap or injection point to a continuous line without breaking the run. The Jaco Kynar PVDF check valve provides one-way flow control with a Hastelloy-C spring, PTFE ball, and Viton O-ring for chemical feed systems.

All Jaco Kynar fittings with plastic gripper nuts are rated to 220 PSI. Standard ferrule nut versions handle 50 PSI. Kynar is compatible with Kynar PVDF, PTFE, FEP, and PFA tubing.

Nylon Compression Fittings

The Jaco nylon fittings line covers five fitting types on Cleanflow. Nylon male connectors and nylon female connectors handle tube-to-thread transitions for pneumatic and fuel systems. Union connectors extend straight tube runs, nylon union elbows redirect tubing at 90 degrees, and union tees create three-way junctions. Nylon resists organic solvents, oils, hydrocarbons, and fuels from -40°F to 250°F. It is FDA compliant and NSF listed.

Nylon absorbs water, so Jaco nylon fittings are not recommended for continuously wet or submerged service. They are the right choice for pneumatic control lines, oil and fuel transfer tubing, coolant loops, and general industrial systems where strong acids are not present. Jaco nylon compression fittings cost less than Kynar and work well in any dry or oil-compatible application.

How to Choose Between Kynar and Nylon

The choice between Kynar and nylon comes down to the chemical environment and whether the fitting stays wet.

Choose Kynar (PVDF) when the line carries strong acids, chlorine, caustics, or water continuously. Kynar does not absorb moisture and withstands UV exposure, making Jaco PVDF fittings the standard for chemical dosing, water treatment, and food-processing tubing.

Choose nylon when the line carries oils, solvents, fuels, or compressed air and stays dry between cycles. Nylon costs less and works well in pneumatic systems, fuel handling, and general dry service.

When comparing Kynar vs nylon compression fittings, the deciding factor is chemical aggressiveness. If the media would attack nylon, step up to Kynar. Both lines share the same one-piece ferrule nut design, installation process, and 220 PSI pressure rating with the plastic gripper.

All Jaco compression fittings on Cleanflow are chemical resistant compression fittings available in the chemical resistant tube fittings collection.

Factor Kynar (PVDF) Nylon

FAQs

What are Jaco compression fittings?

Jaco compression fittings are plastic compression fittings manufactured by Jaco Manufacturing in Berea, Ohio. They use a patented one-piece ferrule nut to create leak-free tube connections without flaring or soldering. Cleanflow stocks Jaco fittings in Kynar (PVDF) and nylon across connectors, elbows, tees, and a check valve.

Are PVDF fittings FDA approved?

Yes. Jaco PVDF fittings are FDA compliant and NSF listed. The Kynar resin is non-toxic and safe for repeated food contact and potable water applications.

What is the advantage of plastic vs metal compression fittings?

Plastic compression fittings eliminate galvanic corrosion, resist scale buildup, absorb mechanical and acoustic vibrations, and provide smooth internal flow passages. Jaco fittings cost less than metal equivalents and install with standard hand tools.

Can Jaco fitting parts be interchanged with other manufacturers?

No. Jaco cautions against interchanging Jaco parts with fittings from other manufacturers. Compression threads differ between brands, and mixing parts can cause leaks or fitting failure.
